“Describe yourself in one hundred words or less.”
Yeah, right. No human being can be summarized in a mere hundred words—and this coming from a man who would just about stake his life on the power that words possess.
Alas, although language fascinates and intrigues me, I sadly lack knowledge of all the world’s languages. I am, however, a craftsman of my own mother tongue, and there is little that thrills me more than spinning words on my fingers like Michael Jordan spins basketballs: the control, the precision, the power to captivate an audience. Skilled hands can use words to destroy or to build, to crush or to encourage, to hold a people in subjection or to rally a people to action.
So who am I? I am a necktie fanatic. I am an artist. I am a grammarian. I am a mad hatter. I am a Virginian. I am a Bible-thumping Christian. I am a moustachioed fellow.
Who am I? I’m Benjamin H. Morgan, and I am a man who loves words.
